I believe my appreciation for gnomes began with the television show David the Gnome, but my love and fascination with these cute little garden helpers was really inspired by Travelocity’s Roaming Gnome.
I’ve estimated my gnome collection to be at least a dozen garden statues… but if I throw in miscellaneous gnome memorabilia and gnomes I’ve made the number could easily reach twenty. Garrick was my second gnome (a mini version of the Roaming Gnome my first, a birthday gift from my boyfriend) and has been the star of a few short stories, Walter, one of my more recent gnomes and one of the lightest, accompanied me on a ten day tour of England and channeled the Roaming Gnome in many (many) photographs.
I’m currently working on putting my gnomtography into a book through Blurb/Flickr. A Gnomaly will feature Garrick’s stories, Walter’s travels, Sven’s adventures, Waldorf’s cookie recipes and more. I’m working on this project slowly, taking my time with my gnomies. Enjoy some gnomtography while you wait for the published version of A Gnomaly!
